As I mentioned in my recent 1% for Non-Profits post, I do what I can to fund educational programs in the Bixby Knolls community.
That’s why I’m participating in the Longfellow Legacy Foundation’s second annual Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament which is being held at Skylinks Golf park in Long Beach on Wednesday, May 5th, 2010.
About the Longfellow Legacy Foundation
The Longfellow Legacy Foundation (LLF) is dedicated to funding the Longfellow Elementary School’s educational needs by engaging and empowering the support and partnerships of parents, Alumni and the Bixby Knolls community at large.
LLF is working for the next generation of leaders, not just to meet the current standards of education, but to exceed them. They are striving to create excitement and drive so that each one of our Lions senses that higher learning is within their grasp.
Their goal is to fully fund both the After-School Tutoring and Chorale Music Programs at the Longfellow Elementary School. We all know that recent budget cuts have frozen the After-School Tutoring Program altogether and the Chorale Music Program is in jeopardy of losing its funding for the 2010 school year.
Longfellow Legacy Foundation’s commitment, despite the many challenges it may face, is to early childhood education and ensuring each child has a progressive school experience. They understand how these programs affect a child’s academic future.
Will We See You There?
If you’re interested in speaking to a LLF representative directly, you can catch up with the Longfellow Legacy Foundation every Sunday – until the weekend before the tournament – at the Farmers Market at Longfellow. they invite you to attend and enjoy the Morales family performing their wonderful folkloric dance routine.
They’ll also be offering special contests and surprises every Sunday, make sure to stop by. Sign up your foursome or single golf spot early as this year’s events features a opportunity to win a brand new Honda Accord LX!
