Here you will find Spanish Colonial, Craftsman Bungalow, Victorian, Tudor Revival, Neo-Traditional and Mission homes. Several of the tropical palm-tree hemmed apartments and single-family homes offer ocean views. Many properties are gated.
While close enough for daily errand runs on 2nd Street, Belmont Heights is also just far enough away from the evening weekend bustle and tight parking of Belmont Shore. Belmont Heights’ very own weekend nightlife comes alive, usually kicking off as early as Wednesday or Thursday, at the neighborhood’s dress-down brewpubs and upscale cocktail bars.
About half a dozen gay and lesbian bars stretch over several blocks down Broadway, from downtown to Redondo Ave. Christy Bono, Cher and the late Sonny Bono’s daughter, owns Belmont Heights’ premier fine dining establishment simply named Christy’s.
Belmont Heights residents wind down at the nearby Greenbelt, a soothing nature oasis in the city. This 10-year urban wildlife habitat project offers locals a narrow ribbon of open space for quiet reflection, and a chance to absorb the beautiful emerald and gold hues of reintroduced native California foliage. The Greenbelt is located near the corner of 8th and Termino and is open to the public and dogs.
